Did you ever think there would be a dental clinic your kids will actually want to visit! Well, that's just the place you have found here! Our office is modern, with state-of-the-art equipment, yet every detail of space has been designed to be fun and inviting for kids.
From the child friendly ambience and open to sky terrace, the vibrant colours and exclusive toys, our Pediatric Dental Clinic has been created keeping your child in mind! Children are able to choose from an array of games that include the award winning wall mounted magnetic maze, activity tables, word search games and balancing beams….all of which help improve mental development, eye-hand coordination, visual tracking and sensorimotor skills of children. An interactive Dental education program, for both children and parents, helps children get acquainted with what to expect on their first dental visit. Our kids think this is a fun place to be! They often forget they are in a highly skilled pediatric dentistry office!
Our clinic has three fully equipped treatment rooms with advanced technology to enhance patient care and comfort and help your child get the smile they deserve. All the rooms have a unique theme to make kids feel special and at ease.
Our clinic uses the Acteon (Satelec) Dental x-rays which adhere to the stringent AERB protocols and have the least scatter radiation. Digital X-rays are taken using sensors that transmit the image directly into a computer monitor which allows the parent to understand the doctor's explanations more easily. An important advantage is that it reduces the amount of radiation by 90%, besides being environment friendly.
Our clinic adheres to the strictest guidelines for sterilization. All possible disposable equipment and materials are used to ensure the safety of your child. Dental chairs are disinfected before every patient. Instruments are sealed in individual pouches and sterilized using the Class B Autoclave. For our kids we have ensured that the water used for mouth rinsing on the dental chair is connected directly to a RO water purifier!
Since 2010, we have successfully switched to digitization of all our patient treatment records. From initial registration to the detailed treatment records, our clinic uses ‘cloud computing’ for storing all its data. Our appointment scheduling program too uses contemporary technology which sends a confirmation via text message the moment the appointment is taken and a reminder on the day of the appointment. This is a great help to parents who have multiple activities planned throughout the day! A 3 monthly or 6 monthly reminder for routine dental visits is also part of our recall protocol so that we can ensure good oral health for your child.
Laughing Gas or Nitrous Oxide-Oxygen has been around for more than a century. The use of laughing gas is used to relax anxious children so that the dental procedure can be completed without discomfort. The child remains awake during the procedure and walks out smiling as soon as the procedure is completed! The use of ‘laughing gas’ is absolutely safe, and its use is routine for children (and adults) in western countries.
Although many parents don't think too much about their toddler's or preschooler's teeth, it is important to do so, because a lot of children develop cavities before they are 5 years old.
Good dental hygiene habits should begin before your child's first tooth comes in. Wiping your baby's gums with a soft damp cloth after feeds helps to prevent the buildup of bacteria. When teeth appear, start using a soft children's toothbrush twice a day.
Once your child is preschool-age, start using low fluoride toothpaste (500ppmF). Don't cover the brush with toothpaste; a pea-sized amount is just right as young children tend to swallow most of the toothpaste. This can be minimized by pushing the paste into the bristles so that they swallow only the foam as a result of brushing.
Dr Vyas’s Pediatric Dentistry lays great emphasis on Preventive Dental Care. Scientific evidence has shown the benefit of Pit and Fissure Sealants in sealing out decay in the molars of young children. This coupled with 6 monthly Fluoride application is the preventive regimen followed in all developed countries. Emphasis on teaching tooth brushing to the kids and parents helps in ensuring good home oral care. Most children visiting our practice have been inculcated into the habit of brushing twice daily and flossing from a very early age.
Dental decay in deciduous or young permanent teeth needs to be treated so as to restore the tooth back to its normal function. Small cavities in milk teeth, if left untreated, may progress and the decay infects the dental pulp (nerves and blood supply), which can result in damage to the permanent tooth bud forming beneath the milk tooth. The objective is to restore the deciduous teeth and keep them decay and infection free so that they guide the healthy permanent teeth into their correct position. The treatment may include fillings, root canal treatment and crowns for the teeth affected with dental decay. At our Pediatric Clinic, we take utmost care not to rush and hurry the child and explain the procedure in a child friendly manner. This helps in instilling a positive dental attitude so that your child leaves our clinic with a smile!
One of the commonest causes of Early Childhood Caries is the excessive use of the Nursing bottle beyond the age of 1 year. This causes tooth decay in the front teeth. As a result of this the children become conscious of their blackened teeth and are reluctant to smile. Dr Vyas’s Pediatric Dentistry provides the option of the newest Zirconia crowns (NuSmile, U.S.A) to restore teeth that are badly decayed resulting in a smile that is as natural as can be. The endeavour of this practice is ensure that every child leaves with a smile!

General anaesthesia:
In children that are too small to sit on the Dental chair or allow the use of the nasal hood for the ‘laughing gas’ treatment, the option of General anesthesia is recommended.
Very young children who require dental treatment for painful cavities may not be able to cooperate for the routine dental procedures. A painless and non-traumatic method of achieving quality dental care is to perform the treatment with the child asleep, under general anaesthesia. So as to render the anaesthesia safe, it is performed in an Operation Theatre at a Nursing Home in Kemps Corner or at Bombay Hospital, Saifee Hospital and SRCC Children’s Hospital. Our Anaesthesiologists are the best in the field and are highly skilled and trained to ensure that the general anaesthesia rendered to your child is risk free.
